Andrew Markowitz's Bar Mitzvah was on Saturday, December 19, 2009. It was a great, crystal clear day, except for the 2 feet of snow that fell during the first major snow storm of the season. Although many family and friends braved the storm that day to attend Andrew's Bar Mitzvah, it was decided to postpone the reception until this past Saturday, March 27, 2010. The reception was held at Congregation Beth Emeth on Lea Blvd.

The challah was cut by both of Andrew's grandfathers and 14 candles were lit by family and friends. The DJ was Craig & Company. To view a 6 minute clip, click "Andrew's Reception".

Saturday, December 19, 2009, the Delaware Valley was “clobbered” with a record large snowfall. It was recorded that Wilmington received approximately 17 inches. Another, more noteworthy, news item also took place, Andrew Markowitz’s Bar Mitzvah. The ceremony took place at Congregation Beth Emeth on Lea Blvd. with Rabbi Yair Robinson presiding.

Andrew, an avid Patriots fan, is the son of Jason & Elaine Markowitz of Wilmington, DE., and the brother of Becky Markowitz. The ceremony was attended by those who braved the wintery weather including grandparents, other family members, and friends.
