Sergio Grasso, NIAF, Hilton DC, Washington DC,
On Saturday, October 29, 2011, I had the real pleasure of videotaping Sergio Grasso of Rome, Italy at the NIAF, The National Italian American Foundation. "The NIAF is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, educational foundation that promotes Italian American culture and heritage. It serves as a resource on the Italian American community and has educational and youth programs including scholarships, grants, heritage travel and mentoring." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Italian_American_Foundation). President Obama addressed the organization later that evening.
Sergio is a food anthropologist and calls himself a "gentlemen's chef". This was the 2nd time I videotaped Sergio. I taped him at a cooking demonstration at a local restaurant in the Wilmington, DE area. He infuses his demonstration with a great deal of humor, knowledge, and cultural history. I had a great time and hope to videotape him again real soon! Here's a short 5 minute highlight clip, "Sergio Grasso".

What a great time I had at Amanda Hurd's Quinceanera on Sunday, July 3, 2011. It was held at the Waterfall Banquet Center in Wilmington, DE. The place was jumping with about 170 family and friends.
A quinceanera (pronounced keen-sin-yer-a) marks the celebration of a girl's fifteenth birthday in parts of Latin America. This birthday represents the transition from childhood to young womanhood. There's a father/daughter dance in which the father takes off the shoes of the girl and presents her with the shoes of a young woman. Other traditions included, a grandfather dance, and the court. The court, which Amanda chose to call her posse, is a group of 10 couples who do a choreographed dance. See if you can find them in the clip that follows. It was a great event rich in tradition. Amanda wore a beautiful white dress and later changed into party clothes.
The photographer was Brad Glazier of Glazier Photography. This is about the 10th time I've worked with Brad and it still amazes me the shots he gets.

I just got finished editing a short clip from the jazz recording session I videotaped Monday. My client, Northeastern Music Publications, Inc., Glenmoore, PA is adding 10 professional jazz pieces to their catalog. The recording session was produced by Dr. Randy Navarre and many of the tunes were written by Denis DiBlasio featuring solos by Larry McKenna, Bob Howell, Denis DiBlasio, and many others. What a great time I had. The filming was somewhat challenging given the size of the studio, 17 players all with instruments, stands, microphones, and me with 2 cameras and tri/monopods. Here's a edited version of "Got An Issue? Grab A Tissue" by Denis DiBlasio featuring Larry McKenna on Tenor Sax.

Patagonia & The Wilderness Beyond, Wilmington, DE
What a trip! It was spectacular! Patagonia & The Wilderness Beyond from Dec 28, 2010 to Jan 14, 2011. We were joined with 18 other travelers from California to New York. Our guide, Pedro Porqueras from Buenos Aires, took us on an unbelievable adventure. His passion for life is certainly contagious.
We toured El Calafate, Perito Moreno, Grey, and Pia Glaciers, Torres del Paine National Park, visited a working sheep ranch or Estancia, cruised the Chilean Fjords, landed on Cape Horn, saw Condors, Eagles, Red Foxes, Magellanic Penguins, Elephant Seals, and many more.
After the cruise we landed at "The End of the World", Ushuaia, and then flew to Iguassu, Argentina where we viewed Iguassu Falls on both the Argentinian & Brazilian side. It was an unbelievable trip - one that we, as well as the other 18 members, will cherish for a lifetime.
