Amanda Hurd, Quinceanera,Waterfall Banquet Center, Wilmington DE

What a great time I had at Amanda Hurd's Quinceanera on Sunday, July 3, 2011. It was held at the Waterfall Banquet Center in Wilmington, DE. The place was jumping with about 170 family and friends.

A quinceanera (pronounced keen-sin-yer-a) marks the celebration of a girl's fifteenth birthday in parts of Latin America. This birthday represents the transition from childhood to young womanhood. There's a father/daughter dance in which the father takes off the shoes of the girl and presents her with the shoes of a young woman. Other traditions included, a grandfather dance, and the court. The court, which Amanda chose to call her posse, is a group of 10 couples who do a choreographed dance. See if you can find them in the clip that follows. It was a great event rich in tradition. Amanda wore a beautiful white dress and later changed into party clothes.

The photographer was Brad Glazier of Glazier Photography. This is about the 10th time I've worked with Brad and it still amazes me the shots he gets.
